ASKING THE SUN

I woke up early. I walked along the beach. It was too early that I can barely see. I waited for the sun to rise. There was a hint of bright pink on the horizon, so the sun must be up ...  So I asked the sun. Is there any hope left for me? There's only silence. I can only hear the sound of the waves, the swallow, the distant boat engine...

Nevermind, I'll ask again during sunset.

And then the sunset came. There was no sunset. Only gloomy skies. But I asked anyway. Is there hope for me?

Silence.

Only the wind answered me. And the waves. A lone lizard went tsk tsk tsk.

So I'll go home. Not renewed.
Not refreshed. Not motivated. Just weaker, older and closer to death.

No expectation.

No hope.
