The Reasons Why I Cannot Sleep Tonight....

Reason # 1

6 x Heterotis niloticus (African Arowana)

Reason # 2

6 x Epetoitchtys calabaricus (Ropefish)

Reason # 3

2 x Polypterus endlicheri (Endli Bichir)

Reason # 4

1 x Malapterurus electricus (Electric Catfish)

Reason # 5

1 x Gymnarchus niloticus (Aba Aba Knifefish)

The pix are NOT MINE, credit to the respective owners.

They'll be arriving tomorrow (hopefully, fingers crossed and teeth clenched). I don't know what else my friend GG Ming is going to send me for my birthday...

Just finished setting up the tank for the small Aba Aba while the African Arowanas (AFROs), Ropefish and the Endli Bichirs will be living (temporarily) with the African Freshwater Butterfly Fish.

Wait, that just leaves the Electric Catfish... Die lo die!!!!

Luckily I have a 2 footer under my Kopitiam Table... I'll dig that up and set it up after I post this posting (that sounded a bit funnily, funny)

Thinking to myself, I need to set up the following before the year ends...

1. Two 4' tanks for the new Aba Aba and the AFROs

2. Two 3' tanks for the 3 African Lungfish

3. One 3' tank for the Bichirs

4. One 3' Tank for the Electric Catfish

That's additional two 4' tanks and four 3' tanks plus my existing EIGHT FRIGGIN' TANKS of various sizes!!!

Lets just hope the floor of my apartment can take the abuse ;)

  1. Hey, I've to say I am impressed with your blog. Not many Malaysians blog about the (rare) fish they keep.

I too stay in an apartment, and I have many aquariums:2 x 3ft, 3 x 2.5ft and 2 x 2ft. And I do fear for the life of the tenant who stays below my floor. Can I ask, how do you plan the aquarium distribution? Do you place them all on one side or, do you line them by the walls? I've been told by a few people that the floor can carry a few hundred tonnes, but you know... water is heavy.

    Any tips you can give?

  2. Tq Aida for commenting... I line my tanks along the weight bearing walls... for my apartment that's along the shared wall between my unit and the one next to my apartment... Another good position is along the wall with windows and doors... Hope this helps...
