IN A FLASH 24 MAY 2009
GOOD AFTERNOON AND SALAM MUHIBAH.
IT IS TIME FOR IN A FLASH.

The arrival of Singaporean tourists to Langkawi is expected to rise after AirAsia and Singapore’s Tiger Airways scheduled direct flights between the republic and the island.

AirAsia will have the direct flights to Singapore starting from June 1, while Tiger Airways will start its direct flight to Langkawi in August.

MATTA Kedah Chairman, Pishol Ishak said, Tiger Airways will add to the existing direct flights between Singapore and Langkawi as well as the existing services provided by Silk Air.

He added the step taken is very much welcomed and hopefully it will increase the volume of tourists’ arrival to the island.

The Tourism Statistics Unit for LADA recorded thirty seven thousand nine hundred eighty-eight tourists arrived from Singapore last year, compared to thirty four thousand six hundred forty three recorded in 2007.

Singaporean tourists ranks fourth after United Kingdom, Thailand and Australia.

During the first quarter of this year, some four-thousand Singaporean tourists had visited the island.
